Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Mabuse Pule has acknowledged that some of the customary courts are headed by chief representatives without headmen of records.
Mr Pule said this in response to a question at Ntlo Ya Dikgosi on Monday.
The assistant minister also told Ntlo Ya Dikgosi that the establishment of customary courts jurisdiction was mostly determined by the population size of the village, as well as the number of court cases, both civil and criminal, registered in the village.
Kgosi Lotlaamoreng II of Barolong had asked the minister if he was aware that some of the customary courts were headed by chief representatives without headmen of records. ENDS
