Mutual and Federal opens branch in Francistown
30 Jan 2013
Mutual and Federal, a leading short term insurer and a member of the Old Mutual Group has a new branch in Francistown. The branch will be officially opened on February 6.
A press release from the group states that the branch has been operational since January 7 and offers comprehensive short term insurance services to the local market.
In the release, Mutual and Federal Botswana managing director, Mr Jack Bekker says after some introspection, they realised that their Francistown business relied heavily on the infrastructure at the Gaborone office.
This, he says, limits their business expansion plans in the Northern part of the country and prevents regular interaction with local brokers and customers. On the other hand, the opening of the new office is aligned to the company’s Africa expansion plans.
The branch will operate autonomously and will also have the capacity and resources to provide claims as well as underwriting services independently, making it the first of its kind in Francistown.
The release also states that having first opened its office in Gaborone in 1994, Mutual & Federal sees significant opportunities in Botswana, where it has already positioned itself as one of the leading short term insurers.
It further says the company has over 180 years experience in the short term insurance industry and was known for its excellent claims services and for protecting what is important to its customers.
The company is said to have achieved a steady growth through its already existing operations in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe and Swaziland, and would continue to explore untapped opportunities and develop new strategies for expansion in these countries. ENDS
