Mr Baleseng Lemphoro, a nurse at Kang Clinic, said the aim of their visit was to benchmark from Ntlo ya Botsetsi and learn how they addressed issues of maternal deaths and teenage pregnancy.

Coordinator of Ntlo Ya Botsetsi Ms Keanole  Gabosutliwe said their mandate was to work with expectant mothers before and after pregnancy, HIV positive expectant mothers, teenage pregnancy and under-aged children engaging in sexual activities.

She said they also educated expectant mothers about anemia and the importance of registering for prenatal care on time.

She stated that they drilled mothers on the negative effects of abortion as well as on the importance of enrolling for Prevention from Mother To Child Transmission programme (PMTCT).

Kgosi Barontshi Kegapetswe of Letlhakane noted that there were taboos that expectant mothers had to observe in the olden days, which was done with the intention to prevent issues of miscarriage or giving birth to an unhealthy child.
