06 Oct 2022

Departmental heads have been encouraged to strive for alignment to the Reset Agenda as they develop  annual performance plans and agreements.

Addressing attendants of the first super Ministerial Performance Improvement Committee (MPIC meeting  in Gaborone yesterday, Minister for State President Mr Kabo Morwaeng explained that the agenda was meant to improve government performance in every possible way.

“It is imperative to ensure that our performance agreements are aligned to government priorities, reset agenda and are customer centric,” he said.

Minister Morwaeng advised the heads of department to continually develop ICT knowledge and skills in order to optimise service delivery.

On another issue, the departmental heads heard that they should ensure  Batswana’s full participation in the economy to reverse the steep import bill and eliminate trade deficits.

“Local procurement is vital for citizen empowerment,” the minister stated.

They were urged  to familiarise themselves with documents such as Public Service Charter, Public Service Standards and the Ten Point Agenda.

Minister Morwaeng advised the departmental heads to maintain the highest standard of diligence, pay attention to the public interest, neutrality, accountability, transparency and remain free from corruption.

“Let us give Batswana the best value for their hard-earned taxes through quality public service,” he said.

The super MPIC is a platform that enables the ministry to reflect on performance and foster alignment on the delivery of its mandate with other government priorities.

“It thus provides an opportunity to meet, greet, reflect and renew our commitment as well as to strengthen our team as the ministry leadership,” he said.

Minister Morwaeng thanked the leadership for their contribution, hard work and dedication towards efficient service delivery over the past two years while battling the COVID-19 pandemic.Ends
