Water supply to improve in Lotlhakane East

02 Oct 2022

Water shortage will soon be history for Lotlhakane East as Ramonnedi-Rasebeka pipe connection nears completion.

In an interview on the sidelines of the site visit on September 28 in Tsokwane, Kanye South MP, Dr Lemogang Kwape said the project was delayed by logistics for pipes to cross Mmathethe/Kanye tarred road.

“Water supply in Lotlhakane East will soon improve. The process is at an advanced stage,” Dr Kwape said.

He said in an effort to speed up the process, he facilitated engagements between Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) and roads department.

Mr Patrick Lekote, lead engineer at WUC Kanye, said they had already engaged the contractor for pipes to cross under the tarred road.

However, he said the whole project was done in-house and everything from their part was complete.

He was optimistic that the contractor would soon complete his part after which test commissioning would then follow, which would include flashing and disinfecting of the pipeline.

Mr Lekote said if satisfied after testing, Lotlhakane East would then receive increased supply of water.

“The next step would be to focus on water reticulation in the village, which was one of the challenges that led to water shortage,” said.

He further highlighted that two boreholes would also be drilled in Tsokwane lands which would improve supply to the village, adding the job had been awarded to a contractor and would soon commence.

“These boreholes would be connected to this pipeline,” he said. Ends
