Ministry of Agriculture has partially lifted the August 24 suspension of exports and movement of cloven-hoofed animals and their fresh products.
In a media release, the ministry says the ban on movement and slaughter of cloven-hoofed animals remains in place in Disease Control Zone 6b.
It states that in zones 3c, 6a and seven movement into and within is permitted for slaughter only while movement of cloven-hoofed animals out of the stated zones is prohibited.
In the rest of the zones, excluding 3c, 6a, 6b and seven, animals may be moved for slaughter or other purposes, says the release.
It explains that a permit is required to move animals to abattoirs between holdings and zones. The release states that export of cloven-hoofed animals and fresh products thereof may resume subject to conditions set by importing countries.
It however states that exports to the EU and UK markets remain suspended.
Farmers are reminded to brand all cattle with their zonal brands warning that animals not bearing a zonal brand will not be admitted at abattoirs, says the release.
It further reminds farmers to ensure that all cattle and small-stock are BAITS registered and identified with BAITS ear tags.
The release advises farmers to continue being vigilant and promptly report suspicious clinical signs, particularly excessive salivation and lameness. ENDS
