Stanbic Bank assists Kagiso Senior School learners

The provision of basic education is an expensive undertaking that government alone cannot sustain.
This observation was made by Chief Education Officer of the South East Region, Mr Tumelo Rakgabo when receiving revision books donated by Stanbic Bank Botswana to Kagiso Senior Secondary School on Wednesday September 21.
The bank’s Kgale branch donated over 100 revision textbooks worth P20 000.
Mr Rakgabo said academic journey to excellence required all to come on board and join hands.
He said the donation was important and it would go a long way in assisting other final year learners.
He said Stanbic bank’s investment on pupils was truly humbling especially the returns of the information on the revision textbooks.
He noted that he was overseeing about 19 schools with a pupil enrolment of over 10 000, which was a challenge that needed concerted efforts from the private sector.
Mr Rakgabo said the South East region yearned to be a region of excellence and Stanbic donation was a positive step to a successful academic journey.
Stanbic Bank Kgale branch manager, Ms Tsaone Seipato said access to quality education was vital for the growth and development of every child, which in turn contributed to the achievement of sustainable development.
She said her bank’s mandate was premised on growth hence were moving forward to change the lives of Batswana.
She advocated for inclusive education, saying the current crop of learners were future leaders in different disciplines and needed encouragement and support.
She urged Kagiso school learners to envision their ambitions because it was possible to live their dreams.
Ms Seipato said the bank had previously worked with the school donating furniture and it was a significant milestone to once again answer their pleas.
For her part Kagiso Senior deputy school head, Ms Ellen Masesane said the school faced a serious challenge of revision books shortage.
She said they made requests to several business entities for assistance and they were motivated and humbled by the swift response of Stanbic Bank.
She said the donation would be beneficial to the form five school leavers and would help the current form four pupils to prepare for the next exam. Ends
