Endo Option Africa INC has donated endodontics equipment and consumables to Palapye Primary Hospital Oral Health unit.
Receiving the donation on Tuesday September 20, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Cosmas Assenga said it would go a long way in improving services provided by the Oral Health Unit.
He said the donation made Palapye hospital the first government institution in Botswana to offer endodontics services.
Dr Assenga said the hospital’s oral health clinic, which offered a wide range of dental procedures, many not available in other hospitals, had a desire to see oral health services grow and make a difference.
He noted that the clinic offered restorative, prosthetics, scaling and polishing, exodontia services, and minor surgical procedures among others.
Dr Assenga said it was thus a proud moment to welcome the introduction of endodontics services.
He said this was a major milestone for Oral Health unit, the Palapye Hospital and ministry of health as a whole.
He thanked the Endo Option Africa Inc. for the donation saying the Palapye community and Batswana, as a whole, stood to benefit from the generosity which would leave an indelible mark.
He also lauded the staff for the hard work and dedication to public service.
The donor, Dr James Sanfilippo said he was confident that the staff would offer excellent endodontic services to the community and the country as a whole.
He also said the donation would enable the department to start doing root canal procedures on patients to restore teeth that would otherwise be extracted.
The Palapye Primary Hospital matron, Ms Kelape Marapo said the donation was a major milestone for the hospital.
The donation included an endodontic rotary instrument, gutta-percha heating system, endo files, associated consumables, loupes, potable digital intraoral X-ray machine with a sensor, a laptop, and a computer projector. Ends
