Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) will host its second edition of the two-day Digital Shift BW Enterprise Summit on September 21 and 22.
Speaking at the media conference in Gaborone on Wednesday, BTC Chief Executive Officer Mr Anthony Masunga said the summit was an interactive hybrid event aimed at sharing a wide range of possibilities available to all Batswana through digital transformation.
He explained that the summit would be an annual event with the first one having taken place in July last year.
Mr Masunga noted that the summit themed: Geared Towards Inclusive and Disruptive Digital Solutions, would be used to unpack advances in game-changing technologies through visionary thought leadership, real world case studies and interactive live engagements.
“The summit is geared at demonstrating BTC’s suite of products and services along with the thinking that empower Botswana’s public and private sector ecosystems with practical and actionable knowledge about digital solutions across industry sectors. We are extremely excited about this Summit. What we have in store would allow a business to connect the dots and combine their own unique strategies with digital insight and engineering to figure out how to make trailblazing digital shifts to the future,” he said.
He also added that this year’s event would also feature an inclusive and exciting programme highlighting the voice of women, youth and small, micro and medium enterprises (SMMEs).
Through the Digital Shift BW he said, ‘we would also demonstrate our commitment and capability to be your digital partner as we transition to a knowledge-based economy.’
Mr Masunga emphasised that the BTC strategy was pivotal in driving the national digital agenda, adding that through the summit the hope was to turbocharge the growth and development of the country and encourage a full embrace of digital transformation.
He explained that the international event was also meant to demonstrate BTC’s capabilities and readiness in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution as the company reset and realign to increase Botswana’s competitiveness in global markets.
Furthermore he pointed out that the summit would allow participants to engage with one another and directly with BTC, partner engineers and thought leaders to leverage technology and understand future trends fully.
“This year we have pushed the envelope and the summit would be bigger and better, you can attend the summit physically or virtually,” he said.
The CEO urged Batswana to attend in large numbers as the summit promised to make an impact on their lives. BOPA
