Peace corps to advance Reset Agenda

South East District Council chairperson, Mr Oshima Peloewetse has urged Peace Corps to advance ideals of the Reset Agenda as espoused under President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s Transformation Agenda.
The President’s new set priorities came in light of the health and economic setbacks caused by the corona virus pandemic.
Speaking at the Family and Trainees matching ceremony Wednesday Septemebr 7, Mr Peloewetse said it was a great opportunity to have a new batch of youthful health professionals who came to begin their volunteer journey in Ramotswa.
He said government was looking to transform all affairs of the nation with the new reset priorities and it was pleasing to welcome people who were expected to make this dream a reality.
Mr Peloewetse said government had introduced major reforms and part of the priority list was the health service, which needed serious revamping.
He said making it possible was a responsibility that the new team should not take lightly as Botswana and the United States had enjoyed cordial relations for the longest time.
The council chairperson said as citizens of the two nations, Batswana and US natives could stick to the commitments made from the past relationships.
He urged them to feel free and at home and share their American culture with Balete and Batswana at large.
“Balete and Batswana are kind-hearted, I urge you to celebrate your welcome to this beautiful country and village culturally,.
We shall organise a Balete cultural dance for you to appreciate our roots,” he added.
For her part, director of programming and training, Ms Amy Patanasinth said the support of the government of Botswana was both crucial and humbling.
She said they knew that the host families were eager to welcome them and were grateful for the warm reception.
She urged trainees to learn from their families the Setswana culture and share the American culture as they were ambassadors in the communities and people appreciated America through them.
“Ramotswa is very special.
We had the last group that evacuated from Botswana due to COVID -19 train here in Ramotswa and now we are happy to be back in Ramotswa to conduct our pre-service training here,” she said. Ends
