Familiarise yourselves with policies - PSP
06 Sep 2022
Members of the District Development Committees (DDCs) have been urged to familiarise themselves with all government policies so that they can be able to facilitate implementation.
This was said by Permanent Secretary to the President, Ms Emmah Peloetletse during an engagement meeting with DDCs from Ghanzi and Ngamiland regions at Maun Lodge recently.
“It is your duty to inform yourselves about the reforms, regulations and policies. Once the government comes up with any policy, you should support and drive its implementation,” she added.
Therefore, she said public officers should understand and be in a position to interpret the policies so that they could be able to cascade them to their subordinates and the community.
She also appraised the gathering on the new policies, regulations and legislations approved by the Cabinet and National Assembly such as the Economic Inclusion Law.
The law, she said, strived to empower Batswana to achieve prosperity for all by 2036.Ms Peloetletse also challenged public servants to introspect and up the game as far as service delivery was concerned adding that they should complement each other rather than competing as their role was to serve the community.
Public servants, she said should uphold and live the values of public service charter adding that they should be transparent, free from acts of corruption and exercise due diligence in everything they do.
The PSP also took time to appraise the gathering on the RESET Agenda which she said was loaded and called for all to make sure they walk the talk.
She said the RESET agenda, called for the alignment of government machinery to be more productive and has consequently encouraged all to embrace it.
Ms Peloetletse was also appreciative of the good work put in by Members of Parliament and Cabinet by availing resources to push for further development that would transform the livelihoods of Batswana. ENDS
