The United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) aims to revive and uphold its mission of community service.
This was said by UCCSA Gumare pastor, Reverend Samuel Kenaape after a 15km heritage walk by church members and some stakeholders in Gumare.
Reverend Kenaape said the heritage walk, which was commemorated by all UCCSA branches across the country, was meant to celebrate the church’s contribution towards the development of country especially in education and health sectors.
The heritage walk, he said, was a way to raise funds in order to help the underprivileged in society.
Reverend Kenaape also said they intended to keep working with government in the management of schools that were established by their church such as Maun Senior Secondary School and Moeding College.
The chief walker, Gumare based businessman, Mr Magonamo Mmolainyana of Iphitlhe Funeral Parlour challenged the UCCSA to be exemplary and proactive in assisting the underprivileged, especial elders.
One of the attendants, Ms Moemedi Osupeng appreciated the heritage walk, saying it was important for fitness as well as a remembrance for the UCCSA history.
Other organisations such as Botswana Christian AIDS Intervention Programme (BOCAIP) and Women Against Rape conducted tests for most non communicable diseases. BOPA
