Jomo Kenyatta airport back in business

06 Nov 2013

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport which was gutted by fire in August this year is now back to its normal operation after a temporary suspension of operations.

Kenya Airways country manager-Botswana, Ms Juliet Zintambila, said in an interview that the airport served over five million passengers in 2011, making it the ninth busiest airport in Africa by total passengers. She said it was also the hub for flag carrier, Kenya Airways and low cost carrier Fly540.

Thus Ms Zintambila said Kenya Airways would tomorrow take five journalists from Botswana to Nairobi to get an insight of the operations.

“While in Nairobi, Botswana journalist will have an opportunity to board the newly arrived Boeing 777 which will be flying the Nairobi-Beijing route because of its carrying capacity of 400 seats and ample space for cargo,” she said.

She said they will also appreciate the busy operations of Kenya Airways and the destinations that the airline is operating in. The five journalists are drawn from five different media houses in the country. ENDS
