Tasc register third draw

03 Nov 2013

Debswana first division north campaigners and former premier league outfit, Tasc failed to take advantage of home ground as they were made to sweat for a single point by a determined Sladden Eagles in a league encounter on November 2.

The two teams played to a one all draw. Tasc who came into the game having drawn all their two away games since the start of the league lacked any sense of urgency from the first whistle while their opponents showed intent as early as the fifth minute with their defence splitting passes that looked dangerous for the Tasc defence.

It was Eagles, who are in their maiden season in the first division, who settled first in the game and dictated the rhythm of play with their enterprising wingers despite failing to score an early goal.

Tasc on the other hand, despite their years of experience in the first division resorted to aerial balls which proved to be difficult for their midfielders to control and convert into goal scoring opportunities.

The visitors intentions came to fruition as early as the 16th minute as the nimble footed Gurai Mazhata opened the score sheet with a grass cutter from a dead ball situation outside the box which Tasc goalie, Kenosi Masimo failed to deal with as it passed through his legs.

Eagles Maitshoko Maitshoko could have added a second a few minutes later but ballooned the ball wide with only the keeper to beat.

The visitor’s captain, Letsweletse Mokgethi also proved to be a difficult customer for the Tasc defence as they spent most of the afternoon chasing his shadows.

On the other hand the home team’s Tshepiso Matlotleng failed to level the scores midway through the second half while the ever reliable Tshoganetso Malizimba was out of sorts and wasted glorious opportunities that came his way.

While Tasc did not play well many goal scoring opportunities came their way but Matlotleng and Ronald Mangwa failed to capitalise on these. The Tasc goalkeeper who was the busier of the two fumbled balls and cracked under pressure.

Eagles on the other hand failed to stamp their authority in a game they could have wrapped in the first half.

The two teams went into half time with Tasc trailing by a goal to nothing. The second half started with both teams trying to pile pressure but were let down by poor finishing from their forwards, especially Malizimba for Tasc much to the chagrin of their supporters who came in large numbers.

In order to inject more fire power Tasc introduced Kitso Malope replacing Ronald Mangwa while Sladden brought in Thero Setsile for the goal scorer, Mazhata.

Deep in the second half Tasc Matlotleng who had earlier missed numerous opportunities made amends by equalising with a free header after the ball was floated into the penalty box from a free kick.

The goal added some spark into the Tasc side as they started pumping balls upfront sensing some luck but most of their efforts went to waste.

Despite scoring the equaliser Matlotleng was the main culprit as he failed to score with only the Eagles goalie, Mmolotsi Mothootsile to beat.

Tasc has so far collected three points from three games since the start of the league. Ends
