Re a Nyalana has no divorce case- coodinator

18 May 2022

No divorce cases have ever been recorded for couples married under the  Re-A-Nyalana initiative.

To date, 6 812 couples have legally united with the help of the  initiative.

One more couple got married while six renewed their vows at Ntshe House, Francistown on Monday.

Re-A-Nyalana aims to reduce cohabitation and promote  a family setting as a critical component of society that instills values and offers stability.

The programme coordinator, Ms Anna Marwaagole stated that they had united 1 031 couples in the Northern region.

“Support from the community is needed in ensuring emotional, physical and financial stability in these unions as children are involved,” she added.

The Monday event was also a prelude to a family fun day that was scheduled for Tuesday at the Francistown Old Stadium under the theme: Families and New Technologies.

Francistown District commissioner, Ms Chabongwa Matseka said families were paramount in leading a happy and healthy lifestyle and the Re-A-Nyalana initiative was a way of helping two people complete their love journey by legalising it.

Christ International Fellowship Church’s Bishop John Ramotshabi reminded the couples that marriage was more than just wearing a white gown and donning a ring, as it also meant caring about each other’s happiness.

“Do not be controlled by temptations or take advice at bars and drinking places or any misleading advice that has led to countless divorces,” he said.

Marriage should be looked at as a dignified union. God made this union because he knew two people will need each other to survive, Bishop Ramotshabi said.

He said even though people had many ideas on how to make a marriage work, they should be careful not to ignore the essential personal sacrifice of putting their partners first.

Only the couple, he said, was responsible for making sure the marriage worked.

“This serious union means you become one, no secrets are to be kept from each other. Effective communication rather than giving instructions to your partner is important,” he added.

Mr Ramotshabi urged the couples to accept and always forgive each other and not shy away from admitting their mistakes as that would help them overcome challenges they encountered. ends
