Rebookgama's goal saves GU girls

29 Jan 2013

Gaborone United's 1-0 win against South East Girls United (SEGU) in the AT&T Monnakgotla Women’s Football League on January 26 did not come easy.

The game, which was played under good weather conditions, saw both teams trying their best to play good football although they struggled to score. GU goalkeeper, Tlamelo Paris, was forced to work hard as South East players, especially striker Koketso Modisenyane, peppered her goal with shots.

Koketso had good combination with midfielders, Dimpho Mokolodi and Leungo Tsumake. The match was goalless at half-time but South East had an upper hand in ball possession.

GU head-coach, Paul Mizi, changed his format from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 in the second half and it worked as his girls managed to produce a goal through Kwana Rebookgama. She pounced after receiving a telling cross from Theo Ngandla.

Mokolodi was denied what looked like an obvious goal by Paris with less than three minutes left for the game to end. South East players such as Gofenyeng Selemo, Tirelo Pule, and Tshepo Nkonyane made marauding forages into the GU danger zone but luck was not on their side.

“It was a good game for us even though we lost. It was relatively a new team and I was using new players who lacked experience,” said South East head-coach Oarabile Seabo.

He said one of the players, 17-year-old Modisanyane was pure talent and should be drafted into the women’s national team. South East are in position 12 in the league after 18 games.

The coach however, anticipates a win against Kanye Swallows this coming weekend. Seabo is hopeful that his side will be able to field one of his talented players Nthabiseng Mokgatle who is in South Africa on a football learning curve. ENDS
