Mrs African World Botswana has unveiled the 13 contestants, who will compete for the title on October 1st.

When presenting the contestants, one of the directors of the pageant, Jennifer Sekapenyane, said the winner will walk away with P20 000 and represent Botswana in Las Vegas, USA, later in the year.

Sekapenyane said her business associate, Thato Monei birthed the pageant in 2019, and they were granted the Mrs World licence by its holder in America, in 2021.

She said the pageant was an international charity-oriented brand, that helped women to inspire others to tackle issues they face and it also promotes the cultural diversity.

Sekapenyane also revealed one great aspect of the pageant, which is that husbands get involved and to buttress this, the husbands of the contestants, who were present at the unveiling, paraded with their wives.

Meanwhile, Monei said contestants had to complete certain tasks, which form part of the pageant journey score, adding that in May, they would have a workshop that would cover personal branding, public speaking and rehearsals.

She said the second workshop will be hosted in June to teach the contestants about make-up and rehearsals on how to walk in high heels.

Monei said as a way of creating  a bond with their husbands, the contestants, would in July, have ‘Are tshamekeng picnic’ and also do fitness activities, while in August, they would host a charity project that they would have been working on, followed by a boot camp in September, where prejudging will also be done.

She said the business aspect of the pageant was that finalists had to raise P2 500 as sponsorship to support their journey, adding “the funds would be used to cover activities such as photo shoots, workshops and to pay the service providers”. 

The contestants were motivated by Pastor, Natasha Thompson, who advised them to stay true and be themselves. 

She also said an elegant woman was organised, respectful and a family builder. ends
