Letlapeng increase gap

Letlapeng strengthened their leadership of Debswana First Division South league with a 1-0 victory over Rolling Boys on Sunday afternoon.
A bizarre second-half goal scored by Ghanaian striker, Sadat Sinare settled the enthralling top of the table clash played at the SSG Ground in favour of coach Thaloba Nthaga’s men. They have now collected 16 points from six matches and opened a four-point margin at the summit.
Rolling Boys took the game to their opponents in the first-half and midfielder, Mpho Gaoitsiwe forced goalkeeper, Kakanyetso Dipholo to pull off a point blank save with a stinging 25th minute shot. Midfielder Mogomotsi Keabaitse saw his goal bound effort cleared off the line by Pako Eanang, and Dipholo produced another great save to deny Gaoitsiwe while Kabo Matlhare placed a free header wide from a corner-kick.
Letlapeng became more dangerous after the break as Sinare combined well with Thabang Dira and Kelelelo Kgosimore in attack. Sinare had goalkeeper Andries Moseki well beaten six minutes into the second-half, but his low effort crashed off the upright.
Sinare finally found the net 18 minutes before fulltime with a bizarre goal after a Rolling Boys player had knocked the ball out of touch for an injured Letlapeng player to be treated. When play resumed, Letlapeng goalkeeper, Dipholo released a long kick upfront and as Rolling Boys players stopped in anticipation of fair-play, Sinare latched onto the pass and guided the ball past Moseki.
Rolling Boys coach Kaelo ‘Wire’ Kaelo was livid afterwards and berated Letlapeng for lack of good sportsmanship. Letlapeng coach, Thaloba ‘Machine’ Nthaga said his charges deserved to be top of the league after a solid start to the season.
“I have a very capable team and my players are well focused. I believe we would maintain our push for promotion if we can continue like this,” said the youthful coach who guided Black Peril to double promotions from the regional leagues through to the premier league in 2010.
In other weekend results, Prisons XI slumped into the bottom half of the table after suffering a second successive defeat. They lost 1-0 to Ghanzi Terrors on Saturday. Mogoditshane Fighters redeemed themselves from last week’s 3-1 loss to Rolling Boys with a 4-1 hammering of Black Peril in Mogoditshane on Saturday.
Mochudi Buffaloes enjoyed the bragging rights of the Kgatleng derby by beating Modipane United 1-0, while Jwaneng Comets edged Killer Giants 1-0 at the Galaxy Stadium. Bottom club Masitaoka suffered their fifth loss in six matches after Black Forest won 2-1 in Molepolole. ENDS
