Explore talent while young
27 Oct 2013
Learners in the Mahalapye East constituency have been challenged to find their talent at a tender age.
Speaking during the handover of footballs and netballs by the World Group of Companies, the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Botlogile Tshireletso said not all pupils were academically gifted and therefore they had to explore their talents while still young.
Tshireletso said learners should take advantage of different activities at school as they would help them identify their talents. Altogether, 370 balls were donated to different Primary schools in the constituency including Flowertown, Xhosa, Mokubatse, Mokoswane, Kudmatse, Dovedale, Mmaphashalala, Mookane and Palaroad.
Tshireletso said she hoped some children would find netball and football as talents to pursue in the long run. Two balls for netball and football were donated per class in each school. She advised each class to play its peers and then move up to older pupils.
Use of talent, she said could turn the children into local and international house hold icons. Tshireletso also said learners needed an opportunity to exercise at an early age as that would also contribute to a healthier life and deter them from unacceptable behaviour.
She urged parents to release their children to be able to actively participate in sports as a whole at a tender age. She said parents’ involvement would help nurture children’s talent which could become a career path in future. Tshireletso hailed the world Group of Companies for donating the balls.
The donation, she said confirmed its continued commitment and regard for communities in which the company operated. It also reaffirmed the solid and strong partnership between government and the private sector. She urged other companies to do the same and make a difference in the lives of Batswana. ENDS
