Choirs donate house to Tonota family

Choirs in Tonota have been hailed for joining hands to make difference in the lives of other people.
After realising the inhabitable structure the Gabotlogelwe family lived in, the choirs took it upon themselves to build a suitable house for the family.
Speaking during the handover of the house in Tonota recently, Chief Representative Kgosi Mojambo Mmolawa said the choirs names and good deeds would be forever remembered.
“Continue with the spirit of togetherness and assist those underprivileged,” he said.
He said unlike in the yesteryears where choirs did not work together but were always engaged in singing competitions during festivities, nowadays they were expected to have corporate social responsibility activities.
Kgosi Mmolawa encouraged them to identify other families in need to assist them through Village Development Committees.
He said singing alone was not enough and advised that they must be compassionate and give back to communities.
Ngwao Loshalaba Association, Central Region chairperson, Mr Ishmael Seitshiro said the association stretched from Dibete to Gweta, adding that Tonota had proved to be a step ahead.
He encouraged them to continue developing their singing talents and encouraged parents to support their artistic young ones as talent could create employment that could sustain lives.
“Choose a talent that can feed you, that can be your source of employment,”he advised the youth.
Mr Seitshiro further advised parents not to discourage their children from being artistes.
The chairperson applauded Tonota choirs for providing accommodation as it was one of the basic needs that include food and clothes.
On behalf of Tonota choirs, Ms Kenaleone Oabile said they had the ambition to donate something that was everlasting and they established that Ms Gaolefufa Gabotogelwe had started building a house but was unable to finish it.
“Some started contributing material and some volunteered to complete construction which took two weeks with the assistance of neighbours,” she said adding that some contributed clothing for the beneficiary’s two small boys.
Tonota South East Councillor Mr Gaefele Sedombo said what the choirs had done was a sign of a long lasting relationship and a shining example of the spirit of giving.
“Singing can depict the type of a nation and by singing one can express anger or happiness,” he said. ENDS
