He expressed gratitude towards the university’s commitment towards attaining a knowledge-based economy.
Further Dr Dikoloti hailed Limkokwing University for its giant step in showing their spirit of giving, saying it was not common for any business entity to make generous donations during difficult times such as the present one, when nations were still grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr Dikoloti said 40 ministry staff would benefit from the scholarships starting in the next academic year beginning in July 2022.
He acknowledged the University founder’s vision and values that were anchored on humanity and the quest for a safer world for all by availing annual scholarships to various sectors within the economy, saying, “there is no better way to empower a nation than to equip its people with relevant skills.”
Limkokwing University Vice Chancellor, Dr Raphael Dingalo who shared the same sentiments, said the varsity continuously played a critical role in the knowledge based economy by being a conduit for developing and facilitating integration into the wider social and innovation system.
Dr Dingalo said they trained and gave graduates a solid foundation of knowledge to think and learn to become future employers by being capable of setting up businesses that would contribute immensely to the growth and development of the economy of Botswana.
He said the scholarships were a personal gesture by the late founder president, Tan Sri Limkokwing as part of his global philanthropic campaign under the Foundation for Humanity which also strives to make the world a safer place especially for the front liners who were dedicating their lives to saving the lives of others.
He said at Limkokwing sought to attract enthusiastic, adventurous, creative, innovative, ready to take risks techno-savvy young people, yearning to contribute immensely to the growth of the economy of Botswana and globally.
Dr Dingalo stated that they want to attract those that want to experience the learning environment that prepares them to transit smoothly into careers with skills to manage new technology, think creatively and speak with confidence. Ends
