Brand new clinic for Kedia
27 Mar 2022
It remains a priority for government and the private sector to continuously work together in finding ways of improving Batswana’s lives, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane stated in Kedia Saturday.
Performing the grounding breaking ceremony for a clinic financed to the tune of P1.5 million by Crown Manufacturing Group, he said the company’s gesture was a significant testimony to the solidarity between government and the private sector.
Mr Tsogwane said the two sectors had teamed up in rebuilding and strengthening the country’s health care system following the COVID-19 pandemic which had crippled economies.
“That is to say, the government cannot manage to care for all alone. We need the support of the private sector,” he said.
The vice president said public private partnerships assisted government to deliver on the Vision 2036 pillar of human and social development.
It was therefore always encouraging to see the private sector playing an active role in supporting government through their corporate social responsibility initiatives, he said.
Corporate social responsibility, he explained, was the private sector’s way of showing that it also cared about the upliftment of communities and Batswana’s lives.
Mr Tsogwane noted that prior to committing to the project, Crown Manufacturing Group engaged the Kedia leadership on the village’s needs.
“During the visit to Kedia, the company saw the need to do more and committed to building a new clinic to the value of P1.5 million instead of refurbishing the existing one, as was the initial plan. It is indeed worthy to note that the decision to consider building a clinic is one that comes with responsibility,” said the vice president.
Mr Tsogwane however noted that developments such as health facilities might come with challenges such as shortage of staff and resources among others.
Crown Manufacturing Group’s financial controller, Mr Mohamed Rdii, said the company, a dealer in computers, mobile accessories and security surveillance products among others, had been operational in Botswana for over 20 years.
Mr Rdii said the company currently employed 100 citizens.
Other initiatives previously undertaken by the company included sponsoring four SOS children’s education as well as providing them with food and caretakers’ salaries from 2012 to date, he disclosed.
The company distributed 150 food hampers for the less privileged in Kedia on the day of the ground breaking ceremony. Ends
