Enumerators in the ongoing Population and Housing Census have been encouraged to exercise patience when interviewing elderly people.
Interviewed by BOPA on Monday, Kgosi Keletshwaretse Phetsogang of Mmatshumo pleaded with the nation to cooperate with enumerators since census was a worthwhile exercise.
He said some might find the questions asked probing, saying enumerators should, as such, tread carefully. Kgosi Phetsogang said the approach used by enumerators during the interviews would determine the success of the exercise.
Managing time well, he said, would ensure that everyone was covered in the two weeks allocated to conduct the census.
For his part, Boteti deputy district commissioner, Mr Ewetse Selelo said with enumerators already in the field and, he was confident that the sub-district would meet the set timeline.
He said challenges with memory of gadgets used by enumerators and some technological problems encountered had been dealt with.
Should the need arise to engage a sign language interpreter, Mr Selelo said the sub-district would would seek assistance from Francistown since there were none in Boteti.
Mmatshumo enumeration supervisor, Ms Chenisani Tshiamo said reception in the village was satisfactory even though they missed some residents, who were at work at the time when enumerators visited their homesteads. ENDS
