Ms Tjedza Molebatsi from Serowe is a good example of how passion and dreams can open doors and ensure one lives a fulfilling life.
The 34-year-old said growing up, she was good with words and was always called to give other people advice.
And she realised that this was her calling.
In an interview with BOPA, the motivational speaker, who said she had always wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, said last November, she embarked on a journey to fulfill her calling.
Ms Molebatsi said the first step of her journey was taking a group of Standard Five to Seven to one of the gardens in Serowe to speak to them about personal development topics such as time management, study methods, self-confidence, sex education and abuse, among others.
She said she believed children needed nurturing and discipline at a young age, which is why she decided to start off her project at St. Gabriel Primary School.
She is of the view that the sessions, which are coupled with outdoor activities that provide children with a fun-filled environment while they learn, can help in bringing up responsible youth, who will help make this country a better place.
Ms Molebatsi said she had already covered two more primary schools in the village and her intention was to go to other primary, junior and senior schools in Serowe and its environs.
Having studied Public Relations and Human Resource Management, she said her main intention was to host a television talk show and also expand her target audience to youth and adults to tackle mental health issues.
She said she would also bring in relevant and qualified people such as social workers to offer counselling.
The motivational speaker does all these from her own pocket as she currently does not have sponsors.
She, however, added that she would love for parents to contribute small amounts towards her work.
Molebatsi said she faces financial struggles in catering for the large numbers, especially that some parents could not afford to contribute for their children’s attendance to her sessions.
She further said the lack of a place of operation hindered her to function properly and effectively.
Lack of an office to operate from also incapacitates her from doing administrative work and also makes it hard for potential sponsors and investors to reach out to her.
Ms Molebatsi, who expressed hope that her project would grow to enable her to create employment for other Batswana, implored fellow women to chase their dreams and believe in their capabilities.
She said she also wanted to enroll for a social work course, which qualification would help enhance her services.
She has a Facebook page called ‘Let’s voice out’, where she shares motivational stuff. ENDS
