Success Capital adopts three North East District schools

03 Mar 2022

Success Capital, a proudly Motswana and youth-led organisation has adopted three junior secondary schools in the North East District as part of the commemoration of the 2022 International Women’s Day.

The schools are Thamani in Tshesebe, Shanganani in Tsamaya and Ramoja in Moroka.

The initiative is spearheaded by the organisation’s founder, Mr Dumiso Gasha, who has been leading research, programming and stakeholder engagements across the country.

Speaking at the commemoration event held at Shanganani JSS in Tsamaya on Wednesday, Success Capital chairperson, Ms Kemelo Mozila said the initiative was meant to show commitment in partnering with government towards attainment of the ideals of Vision 2036 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

She explained that the company adopted the three schools to heed the call by the government to facilitate Public Private Partnership in the delivery of quality education across the country.

Ms Mozila said adoption was critical, looking at the fact that schools, both primary and secondary, were a heavy burden on the government.

She said the organisation also chose the schools because they performed exceptionally well in the past junior certificate examinations.

She said they also believe that adopting the schools would encourage pupils in other schools in the district to strive for better results.

Ms Mozila said the organisation’s main mandate was advocacy for human rights, especially for women and the girl child.

Ministry of Basic Education (Northern region), public relations officer, Mr Leaname Tebele said Thamani JSS had a 55.7 per cent pass rate, followed by Shanganani with 48.03 per cent, while Ramoja got 40.54 per cent.

Meanwhile, Mr Tebele said Masunga Senior Secondary School topped all in the past BGSE Cambridge School Leaving Examinations (BGSLE) results, producing four top achievers with Francistown Senior Secondary School and Mater Spei College producing one each.

Former North East District education officer, Ms Angela Kgomotso-Matlhape said the sanitary pads donated by the company would give the girl child dignity and help them not to miss their classes for no apparent reason(s).

Ms Kgomotso-Matlhape, who pledged P500 every year towards Success Capital to encourage the company to continue with its generosity, said educating the girl child was equivalent to educating the nation.

She appealed to the pupils of the three junior secondary schools not to disappoint their sponsors, but prove to them that they had ‘sowed in a good soil’.

She also appealed to stakeholders, especially parents, to play their role in the education of the children.

Ms Kgomotso-Matlhape, who is now into farming, explained that permission was long granted to Success Capital to adopt the three schools and called upon other organisations and companies to follow suit.

Shanganani school head, Mr Safania Tabona thanked Success Capital for adopting the three schools and promised that the donation would be put to good use. ENDS
