Kgatleng district gets 18 000 books

It is important for learners to research, improve thinking capabilities, understand content and reason as they prepare for examinations.
It was against this backdrop that Botswana Project Books donated 18 000 books to Kgatleng District reading rooms following an invitation by the district council, after realising there was shortage of reading material in libraries, and that which existed was too old.
Speaking at the handover ceremony recently, Botswana Project Books director, Mr Ezekiel Malenya said the books, comprising those of research and dictionaries, would be shared among the 18 reading rooms in Kgatleng District, with each getting 1 000.
Mr Malenya also indicated that the company had embarked on a drive to donate books to all libraries and schools in Botswana in an effort to help improve the quality of education in the country.
For his part, Kgatleng District Council chairperson, Mr Daniel Molokwe said through the donation was the beginning of an important partnership between the council and Botswana Project Books.
Mr Molokwe said partnerships such as these could be staggered such that from book donation to various classes it could be grow to training and equipping reading rooms with specialised digital materials such as internet.
“The donation came at the right time as most of the reading rooms don’t have enough books as they have been using old ones.
So the books will help improve academic performance in schools in the district,” Mr Molokwe said. Ends
