Orapa No.1 Plant re-opens
20 Oct 2013
The Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines’ Orapa No.1 Plant will soon start production after a three month maintenance shutdown.
A press release from Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM) says Debswana’s oldest plant was temporary shut down on July 01 to undertake key refurbishments both safely and promptly. It further states that the refurbishment follows a review of the plant’s general and structural condition which highlighted the need to undertake key intensive maintenance in specific areas of the plant.
The areas that were covered by the maintenance plan included the screening building, tertiary crushing building and the dense medium separation building, states the release. It says the maintenance work has now been completed without any incident, within budget and schedule.
The Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Mr Kitso Mokaila has approved the mines’ request for the resumption of production at the plant, the release further states.
OLDM General Manager, Dr Adrian Gale has expressed gratitude and commended his entire team, both employees and business partners, for pulling together during the shut-down period, highlighting that no safety incidents were recorded during the maintenance period.
The release says because of this commitment, production loss due to the shut-down has been minimised and that OLDM was now back on track to meet its carat commitments. ENDS
