Teachers blame parents for poor results

19 Jan 2022

Molepolole’s Louw and Bokaa primary school teachers have identified parent negligence of children’s school work as one of major reasons for poor academic performance.

Speaking during a meeting with Molepolole North MP Mr Oabile Regoeng recently, one teacher said parents did not only distance themselves from children’s school work but some failed to instill good values.

“The parents do not even play a role in teaching good behavior. They even pass insults in front of their children, and this is not good,” said Mr Blessing Mogotsi.

Teachers stressed the importance of cooperation between them and parents saying it was crucial for attaining good academic results.

“Parents and teachers have to come together from time to time to help in evaluating school performance and bringing good results,” said Louw Primary School head Ms Godiaone Pebe.

MP Regoeng encouraged schools to keep pushing by meeting constantly with parents, Village Development Committee (VDC) and other stakeholders as it was their responsibility to ensure good academic performance.

“We will also try to talk to parents and encourage them to be involved,” he said. Ends
