Poor PSLE results worry Mosojane

09 Jan 2022

Kgosi Sibangani Mosojane of Mosojane village in the North East District has decried poor Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) results at the local school.

Speaking during a kgotla meeting addressed by MP for Tati West Constituency, Mr Simon Moabi, Kgosi Mosojane said Mosojane Primary School obtained only 54 per cent pass in the past PSLE.

Kgosi Mosojane told the area MP that the village leadership has resolved to call an urgent meeting to discuss the problem and come up with long lasting solutions.

Kgosi Mosojane also asked that the number of police officers stationed at his village be increased.

He complained that Botswaa Police service never replaced police officers, who went on transfer or further training. Kgosi Mosojane requested for a police vehicle to service his village and outlying settlements and cattle posts.

He also informed the MP that like the rest of the country, Mosojane was not spared from COVID 19 because many families lost their loved ones.

He therefore, cautioned everyone to adhere to COVID-19 protocols to prevent further spread of the deadly virus.

On other issues, Kgosi Mosojane thanked the government for considering to apply tarmac on Tshesebe-Mosojane road pointing out it was long overdue and would help to reduce accidents. Village Development Committee (VDC) Chairperson, Mr Robert Morupisi applauded the move and said it would create employment and business opportunities for the residents in the North East District.

Mr Morupisi also commended the government for free vaccination of COVID-19 saying a considerable number of Mosojane residents were vaccinated.

However, he requested for the upgrading of the local clinic and the maintenance of the storeroom, which was long deracinated by strong winds. Mr Morupisi decried delay in the allocation of residential plots especially to the youth.

The chairperson also requested for a crop production extension officer in the village noting the post had remained vacant for a long time after the transfer of the previous officer.

He said Mosojane Village was currently serviced by Zwenshambe Crop Production office.

For his part, Mr Moabi briefed residents on the constitutional amendment review and appealed for their full participation. He said the constitution needed to be reviewed because it had been overtaken by events as it was crafted in the early 60s.

Mr Moabi also appealed to residents to pay their water bills, and recommended senior citizens for paying their water bills on time. ENDS
