Report the side effects of medications- BoMRA

Members of the public have been urged to always report side effects of medications to the nearest health care facility to help monitor the safety of such medicines.
Public Relations Officer at Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BoMRA), Ms Itumeleng Ledimo made the appeal during a church awareness presentation at the Assemblies of God Church in Serowe on Sunday.
She explained that BoMRA was established through the Medicines and Related Substances Act of 2013 to ensure that all human and veterinary medicines, medical devices, cosmetics and related substances used in Botswana were in conformity with established criteria of quality, safety and efficacy. She said the authority set standards for the regulatory functions value chain and ensured adherence to best practice and also conducted tests and analysis of medicines and inspection of privately owned laboratories, to ensure good laboratory practice.
Ms Ledimo stated that the authority also ensured the safety of cosmetics and medical devices by ascertaining that cosmetics and medical device companies followed regulations to keep cosmetics and personal care products as safe as possible.
Ms Ledimo said BOMRA valued the church as a key stakeholder in ensuring national compliance to medicine regulation.Pastor Nonde Chishimba of Serowe Assemblies of God church thanked BoMRA for the presentation.He said as Christians, they also needed information about different issues. Ends
