Lorolwane gets early Christmas

25 Nov 2021

Lorolwane Primary School got an early Christmas as Nashua and World Group of Companies donated commodities worth over P600 000 to the school.

World Group of Companies donated school uniform worth over P500 000 while Nashua donated a heavy duty printer worth over P100 000 to the school, which has an enrolment capacity of 730 pupils.

Speaking at a hand-over ceremony in Lorolwane on Tuesday, Mmathethe-Molapowabojang MP, Dr Edwin Dikoloti said the donation would play a critical role in the development of Lorolwane pupils and upturn the school’s competitiveness.

Dr Dikolot said child development was paramount to ensuring continuity of sound leadership, which contributed to economy performance through maximum output.

He shared that there was a strong correlation between education, labour market and the economy, pointing out that the country could not realise economic aspirations without performing education systems and production of effective labour mechanisms.

The area MP argued that a country’s economy became more productive as the proportion of educated workers increased based on the fact that they could efficiently perform tasks that required literacy and critical thinking, hence there was need to invest in education to improve economic performance.

“Achievements in education will, therefore to a very good extent, determine the quality of the labour market as well as ensure economic fluidity,” he said.

He said the donation would go a long way in enhancing the school’s learning approaches as the printer would support both teachers and pupils through quality teaching and learning materials.

He commended Nashua for the good gesture, noting that the school was in dire need of a printer, adding that teachers were making copies in Kanye, which was expensive due to transport fare.

He said the printer donation would redefine Lorolwane.

Expressing his heart-felt appreciation for the donation, he applauded World Group of Companies for partaking in the development of education in the country through donating school uniform, pointing that the move would help the have-nots clothe like children from abled families.

World Group of Companies representative, Ms Kgomotso Chikanda said they found it fit to donate because they wanted to meet pupils at their point of need.

He said the donation would promote equality at the school while improving performance.

Nashua technical services manager, Mr Cassius Thupa said the company valued children’s education, therefore, it was against this backdrop that they donated the state-of the-art heavy duty printer.

He said Lorolwane was a far-flung area, therefore, facilitating the learning process remained paramount, adding that they would  try everything in their power to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country. ENDS
