14 Nov 2021

Loago David, a 14 year-old who was killed by lightning while walking home from school last week Tuesday, was laid to rest in Tsamaya on Saturday.

Loago, a form one pupil was in the company of her twin sister, Boago when tragedy struck.

The twins uncle, Mr Chilise Doba rebutted social media claims that the deceased was split apart by lightening because both her and Boago were wearing red hats.

The truth, Mr Doba said was that they both had plaited hair like they normally did.

He said social media posts that were not verified by the family caused pain to those aggrieved.

Mr Doba said Loago’s body was intact save for blisters like burns that were visible on some parts of her body.

He appealed to those posting untruths about the incident on social media to consider what that was doing to the family.

Bishop Portia Mpugwa said Loago had stated that she wished to be a preacher in future.

She said that she was always encouraging others and advised that children should know their parents.

“She was actively involved as a Safety, Health and Environment representative, a task she did with so much love,” she said.

Shanganani junior secondary headmaster, Mr Zephaniah Tabona said the deceased was a well-mannered and responsible child.

She joined Shanganani JSS from Tsamaya Primary School where she attained straight A’s.

Mr Tabona said other pupils spoke highly of Loago because she always availed herself when they needed her to help.

Her classmate, Letang Tsheko said because they were on different school shifts, they would meet and share ideas.

“Since she was always getting good grades, we were challenged to compete with her and that improved our marks,” she said.

Letang said Loago was soft-spoken, friendly to all and always spoke with love. ENDS
