NDB launches mobile branches in Ghanzi
15 Oct 2013
Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Mr Vincent Seretse recently launched two mobile branches for the National Development Bank (NDB) in Ghanzi.
Mr Seretse said the launch of the mobile branches demonstrated NDB’s commitment to promoting access to financial services by the broader segment of the community.
He said financial institutions had to introduce innovative ways to provide easy access to their products and services. He said NDB had impacted positively on the lives of many Batswana ever since it was established in 1963.
“NDB has also been a profitable business over the years. The mobile branches will harness the bank’s distribution network and benefit customers as they will not have to travel long distances to access loans and services,” he said.
Mr Seretse said the introduction of mobile branches elevated the concept of financial inclusion, which was necessary for sustainable economic development. Mr Seretse added that privatisation of NDB would ensure that the bank efficiently and promptly reacted to the fast changing customer needs.
For his part, Member of Parliament for Ghanzi South, Mr Christiaan De Graaf urged the local community to take advantage of the services offered by NBD and thanked the bank for bringing its services closer to the people.
“I urge you to take advantage of this launch and interact with the bank’s employees to seek proper explanations,” he said. Ends
