Kgosi Oatleng Setlhodi of Chanoga has commended Larsen and Tourbo (L&T) Construction Company for donating porta cabins, a generator and furniture to Mawana and Kookale settlements respectively as such will enhance service delivery.

L&T Construction Company which was tasked with construction of the Mawana sub-station power grid by Botswana Power Corporation handed the donation recently.  Kgosi Setlhodi said the donation would help improve services in the two settlements, noting that the porta cabins would serve as offices.

He said the communities needed such developments to diversify their socio-economic lives. Kgosi Setlhodi further appealed to the community members to adhere to COVID-19 protocols to curb the spread of the disease. L&T Citizen Economic Empowerment Coordinator Mr Patrick Oleseng said that the company had completed the Mawana power grid sub-station which was one of the biggest sub-stations to help with transmission of power from Palapye to Shakawe.

Mr Oleseng said the Mawana sub-station could also supply power to Kasane if funds permitted. He noted that the project was supposed to be completed in 2020 but experienced delay due to COVID-19 pandemic, as it was challenging to procure some materials from outside the county.

Regarding the donations, Mr Oleseng said the porta cabins, generator and furniture were worth about P100 000 for each settlement. He said the company was delivering on its promise since it had long promised to donate porta cabins once the project was complete.ENDS
