The body of a 42-year-old man who drowned along Shashe River on Saturday whilst fishing has been handed over to relatives for burial.
Tonota Police station commander, Superintendent Oteng Ngada said in an interview on January 26 that the deceased was discovered on the same day he drowned with the help of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) scuba divers.
He said the body was discovered at around 9pm and was immediately handed over to the family.
Supt Ngada said the deceased, who hails from Kalakamati village in the Central District, was fishing with others on that fateful day. He said police preliminary investigations revealed that the pond which he fell into was deep.
He advised people to desist from fishing along the Shashe river during this time of torrential rainfalls.
