Sub-council approves proposal to re-direct CCP funds
25 Jan 2021
Ghanzi east sub-district council has agreed to the proposal that the P1.2 million Constituency Community Projects (CCP) funds for Qabo community farm be used to equip boreholes.
The proposal which sought to use the P1.2 million to augment funds required to equip RADP boreholes at Qabo, New Xade and Kacgae was presented by Principal Community Development Officer- Ghanzi East Sub-council, Mr Lopang Madisa during a special sub-council session on January 22.
He said Ghanzi north Member of Parliament and Qabo settlement leadership had since been engaged on the move to redirect the funds which were initially approved in 2018/2019 fiscal year for construction of Qabo community farm.
The development of the farm was halted due to land issue.
The move to equip the RADP boreholes, he said, was to ease impending livestock watering challenge.
He said Water Utilities Corporation had since given them notice that they would discontinue watering livestock, hence the need to equip boreholes at affected areas, though they were not budgeted for.
He said they had already sourced P1 500 000 from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, adding that they raised P 1 289 574 through virement from some sub-council votes, while headquarters (Ghanzi district council) contributed P 172 900.
During the same special sub-council meeting, the 2021/2022 recurrent budget estimates of P109 054 218 were also given green light. ENDS
