BNOC donates to Parwe JSS
25 Jan 2021
Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) has recently donated sanitisers, masks and posters to Parwe Junior Secondary School.
The school head, Mr Bashi Garebaitse said BNOC had long partnered with the school, encouraging both sports and academic excellence.
Mr Garebaitse stated that the school hosted the 2019 Olympic Games and were also scheduled to host the 2020 Olympic Games, but that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was cancelled.
He noted that the school’s values related well with BNOC’s values, adding that they have adapted some of BNOC’s values and included them in the school prospectus.
Mr Garebaitse said the donation came at the right time when the use of sanitisers and masks was critical to stop the spread of the virus. He promised to use them efficiently for the benefit and safety of pupils and staff.
BNOC acting chief executive officer (CEO), Ms Wedu Motswetla said although they were running at a tight budget, they had to ensure that they helped the school during the pandemic.
She stated that they were also partnering with other schools as a way of grooming future leaders.
Ms Motswetla urged both teachers and non-teaching staff to preach the Olympic values to pupils, explaining that it was better to build pupils than to destroy them. ENDS
