Madibana receives Points of Light award

Youth Philanthropist, Ms Kagiso Madibana, has been awarded with the prestigious Commonwealth 169th Points of Light award by the Queen of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II.
Commonwealth 169th Points of Light is an award that recognises outstanding individual volunteers who are making a change in their community.
Speaking at the awarding ceremony in Gaborone on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II, British High Commissioner, Ms Sian Price expressed delight in recognising Ms Madibana’s exceptional work in supporting vulnerable communities through her organisation Nayang Association.
She highlighted that to date; Ms Madibana organisation had donated school shoes, sanitary pads, clothing and toys to over 3 000 pupils in remote areas across the country.
“Ms Madibana’s leadership and drive are commendable and a great example of a young Motswana giving back to society. Congratulations to Kagiso on this well-deserved recognition,” she said.
For her part, Ms Madibana who is also a published author with three fictional books under her belt said she was humbled to be a recipient of the award as it gave her hope and encouragement to do even more work for her community.
“Having the Queen of England recognize the work that we do to empower our young people goes a long way, it means we are on the right track and that the world is watching,” she said. ENDS
