14 Jan 2021
Serowe South MP, Mr Leepetswe Lesedi, has encouraged the youth to come up with unique business ideas in order to secure a place in the market.
Speaking during a one-day workshop in Thabala on Wednesday, MP Lesedi noted that the intention was to empower young people.
The area MP, in partnership with Tlholego Foundation, conducted the workshop, which attracted youth from Mogorosi, Thabala, Sehunou, Motshegaletau, Mabuo and Moiyabana.
Mr Lesedi said the current generation should take advantage of existing opportunities such as programmes in the likes of YDF, CEDA and NDB.
He urged the workshop attendants to venture into income generating projects to improve their lives.
The area MP challenged them to come up with new economically sustainable innovations, strategies and skills to be able to employ others.
The MP said they should appreciate government’s efforts to improve their lives and implore them to work hard to realise their potential and reduce dependency on the government’s limited resources.
Mr Lesedi challenged them to come up with new economically sustainable inventions, approaches and skills to create employment for others.
He indicated that the government was no longer employing because of various reasons beyond her control.
Mr Lesedi said COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the situation, and encouraged the youthful constituents to pull up their socks to employ themselves through businesses.
However, owner of Tlholego Foundation, Mr Brian Tlholego said his passion, perseverance and patience made him successful in his poultry businesses in Motshegaletau.
Mr Tlholego said most of his peers were impatient hence most of their funded projects collapsed.
He advised his fellow youths to research for viable businesses.
The youthful entrepreneur indicated that most businesses have challenges but that should not discourage them.
Mr Tlholego stated that most of youth misused business finances for wrong things which contributed to the failure of their businesses.
He appealed to youth to visit LEA offices for advises on how to do business proposals and plans. He also said he was available at MP’s office at Serowe for assistance. ENDS
