Famirialise yourself with set regulations

13 Jan 2021

Batswana have been warned that failure to check and familiarise themselves with set travel restrictions in countries they intended visiting might attract hefty fines.

Speaking in an interview with BOPA yesterday, Department of Immigration and Citizenship director Ms Caroline Okello-Wengi therefore encouraged Batswana to take heed of latest travel advisory information before embarking on their journeys.

She said as part of their travel plans, travellers ought to familiarise themselves with set restrictions in every country they intended visiting.

Ms Okello-Wengi said Botswana respected territorial decisions taken by other countries such as on travel restrictions but could not impose movement curbing rules based on what other states had communicated.

Botswana, she said, had its own travel arrangements which incoming travelers ought to respect citing the ongoing curfew prohibiting movement between 2000hrs and 0400hrs until January 3. Ends
