Kgosi Masisi thanks government

04 Jan 2021

Kgosi Tshwaro Masisi of Mabesekwa says 2020 was a good year for the village because it experienced major developments.

Speaking on the sidelines of the New Year’s Eve football tournament, Kgosi Masisi said it was in 2020 that the village was connected to an electricity grid and that people were beginning to enjoy the fruits of the benefits.

“The first person to connect electricity was in October last year and I am very happy with such a development and I would like to encourage other residents to connect their households,” he added.

He explained that the other major project was the construction of a satellite police post, which now stands at window level, adding that once completed the establishment would reduce crime in the village.

Kgosi Masisi said the 67 kilometre gravel road that connects the village with Tonota, which is the main service centre, was beginning to show progress as the contractor was on site.

“Let us hope that everything will go as planned, but the project has taken a long time,” he added.

However, he complained that residents did not comply with  the curfew restriction introduced last year.

“I am not totally happy with the behaviour of people on the eve of new year’s day because there was totally no order,” he said.

However, he said what was encouraging was that a lot of people, especially the youth, took time in engaging in sporting activities such as football during the festive season.
Meanwhile, Tonota Station Commander, Oteng Ngada explained that the festive season passed without any criminal activities recorded in his area of jurisdiction.

However, he complained that people in Tonota and surrounding areas were reluctant to comply with the COVID-19 restrictions, saying such behaviour ‘should stop with immediate effect’. ends
