Molepolole has become synonymous with violent crime and chances are a number of people expect bad news from Botswana’s most populated village.

However, Number 11 district administration officer, Superintendent Onneetse Dumelang said only 14 incidents were reported in his area of jurisdiction, which covers Molepolole, Thamaga, Letlhakeng, Sojwe and Takatokwane.

These are the number of people who failed to comply with curfew regulations, which came into effect on Christmas Eve.

On Wednesday, the President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi imposed a curfew between 7pm and 4am as a measure to curb he spread of COVID-19.

Superintendent Dumelang said they only encountered people who were from various places of work and was optimistic that there would be no movement during the public holidays.

He further explained that there had not been any criminal activities reported since December 18 and encouraged Batswana to continue with this spirit. ENDS
