Morwaeng engages men on GBV

Molepolole South Member of Parliament, Mr Kabo Morwaeng has urged men to protect women and children.
Addressing a Men’s confereMen’s conferenceMen’s conferencence which he had organised for his constituents to dialogue on Gender Based Violence matters in Molepolole on Saturday, Mr Morwaeng said it was disheartening to observe a rise in GBV cases in Molepolole.
He noted that in most if not all of the reported GBV cases, men were cited of perpetrators.
Therefore, he urged men to be protectors instead of being perpetrators of GBV.
Mr Morwaeng said there was a need for behavioral change in men.
Mr Morwaeng said it was disheartening to observe an increase in GBV cases despite measures put in place.
“GBV cases still persist despite efforts put in place to curb it,” he said.
He added that young boys should be taught at a young age that women deserved respect and protection.
He added that men must turn to God for intervention, and guidance in their decision making.
Mr Morwaeng added counselling would also assist whenever there was a challenge in a relationship.
For his part, Kgosi Kgari III said GBV perpetrators should be shunned and exposed for the law to take its cause.
The men’s conference was held with the aim to dialogue on GBV. ends
