Some sections of Charleshill-Ncojane road in bad condition
14 Dec 2020
Ghanzi District chief road engineer, Ms Masego Gertz has conceded that some sections of Charleshill-Ncojane road are in a bad state.
She, therefore, promised action before the road, whose construction has just been completed, is handed over.
Councillor Ofentse Moapare of Charleshill had queried the stated of the road in a council meeting on December 11, pointing out that it made it impossible for drivers to reach the speed limit on that stretch because it was uneven.
Ms Gertz acknowledged that some sections near Makunda and Kole were bad and promised that action would be taken.
Ghanzi District council chairperson, Mr Thato Tshweneyagae had told the council that Charleshill-Ncojanee road was almost complete and March 2021 had been set as the expected date of handover, with major works expected to be done by end of the month.
Mr Tshweneyagae was concerned about reports that some members of the community stole fencing material from the already completed sections.
He sent a stern warning to those behind the act, noting that anyone caught would be dealt with accordingly.
He pleaded with councillors to advice the public to refrain from such acts of irresponsibility because the development was for their own benefit. ends
