Letshego gives back to the community

Lesego Financial Services recently donated clothing hampers worth P70 000 for distribution to 28 schools in the Kweneng West region. When presenting the items in Letlhakeng recently, Letshego Legal Advisor, Mr Plato Gaoboi said donation followed a request by Kweneng West Teachers’ Day committee for sponsorship.
The committee needed P70 000 to buy clothing items for identified students in the region.Mr Gaoboi said Letshego’s involvement with the coomunity was part of a longstanding pledge by the company to give back to the communities among which it operated.
He explained Letshego set aside one percent of its profit after tax on an annual basis to support various welfare project focused on education and social welfare. He stated Letshego was committed to developing standards of education in Botswana.
“Donating to the schools encourages and motivates students and teachers to work hard for better results,”said Mr Gaoboi. Mr Gaoboi also said the decision to donate to schools in Kweneng was in line with the president’s plea to help government fight poverty. He said it was also in the spirit of and Vision 2016’s ideals of a “Compassionate, Just & Caring Nation”, pillar.
Kweneng West Teachers’ Day committee chairperson, Mr Thatayaone Modibedi appreciated Letshego’s contribution towards helping children who were capable at school but lacked support to hold up throughout their schooling.
Pricipal Education Officer in Letlhakeng sub District, Mr Vincent Ratsatsi applauded Letshego for donating to Kweneng as this would have a positive impact on the lives of the students. He also encouraged students to take their education seriously. For his part, kgosi Tumelo Puleng of Letlhakeng encouraged all Batswana throughout the country to help improve the lives of the less fortunate in society. ENDS
