Moiyabana Innovation centre gets assistance

These Hands organisation, in collaboration with Letshego Botswana, recently donated hand and power tools to the Moiyabana Innovation Centre.
The tools included welding machine, drilling machine, jigsaw, hacksaw, grinder, chisel and others.
Handing over the tools, These Hands chief executive officer, Mr Thabiso Mashaba thanked Letshego Botswana for the financial support.
He also applauded Moiyabana residents for working hard to form a successful group to explore their livelihood challenges, coming up with simple technologies to address them and setting up a small community enterprise to employ and sustain themselves.
He explained that These Hands was a global for profit social enterprise start-up based in Botswana, which trains and supports rural community innovators in developing countries.
He said it had run co-creative training workshops for the group at Moiyabana, and the group had successfully produced working prototypes to address various challenges faced by local communities.
Mr Mashaba thanked the Moiyabana Village Development committee for granting the Moiyabana group the unused building and land to set up the innovation centre.
Letshego Central Regional Manager, Mr Tshepo Tsalaile said the organisation had partnered with These Hands to support local entrepreneurship development.
He said Letshego Botswana, which started operating in the country in 1998, had an objective to help useful innovations get funding, mentorship and the finances needed, to help not only the inventors, but other members of the community, who could also gain from local innovators.
He said Letshego brand’s vision was to improve lives and shares it with These Hands and would collaborate to grow and support local innovations for local community benefit. ends
