School results not impressive
25 Sep 2013
The Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Mr Oreeditse Molebatsi has expressed disappointment with the reduced pass rate of the standard seven national examination results of Ramokgonami Primary School.
Speaking at the prize giving ceremony at Ramokgonami Primary School on Tuesday, Mr Molebatsi said the results remained relatively constant over the past five years and they were not showing any improvement. He said his wish was to see the examinations results improving which could only be achieved by partnership with all the stakeholders.
In 2008, the school got 60 per cent pass rate, in 2009 the school got 58 per cent while in 2010 the school got 54 per cent. In 2011 the school got 62 per cent and in 2012 the school got 53 per cent.
Mr Molebatsi said that showed that things are not going well in the school and the school management has to come up with strategies on how to curb this trend of failing as it seems has become a norm in the recent years.
He said the school has not changed greatly in the past century in that its objectives have remained constant whilst its methods and equipment have advanced with technological change and these progressions have been gradual rather than sudden and massive.
Mr Molebatsi urged the education stakeholders to be committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential to realise their full dreams.
He said parents must be able to have confidence that their children’s needs will be met quickly and effectively throughout their education and as they move into adult life. He said educating children was a partnership between the school and the parents and communication were vital if this partnership is to work positively. Mr Molebatsi said there is no doubt that if pupils and students remain motivated in the classroom they will achieve their goals.
“Their education will be sound, creative and innovative and the stakeholders will help make this a reality,” he said. He appealed to all parents and guardians to be co-operative in nurturing their children because they are the future leaders. ENDS
