Tati Land Board gets over 13 000 plots
02 Dec 2020
North East District Council chairperson, Ms Florah Mpetsane says about 13 368 plots had been handed over to Tati Land Board for allocation.
Addressing a full council sitting on December 1, she highlighted that 7 667 plots were for the financial year 2016/17, while the waiting list stood at 8 902 for Mulambakwena, Makaleng, Matshelagabedi and Matenge.
Councillor Mpetsane stated that 3 234 plots were for the financial year 2017/18 for Moroka, Tshesebe and Ramokgwebana with a total of 1 371 on the waiting list.
Moreover, she explained that 2 467 plots were for 2018/19 for Shashe-Bridge, Kalakamati and Jackalas 2, adding that a total of 4 290 applicants were on the waiting list for allocation in those villages.
The chairperson said the objective of the design process was to produce as many plots as the design could allow to match the waiting lists for individual villages.
However, she said natural features such as streams, rock outcrops and soil characteristics impeded the process.
Ms Mpetsane indicated that council continued to employ best designing practice to achieve the objective and requested for more base maps from land board for detailing process.
She said Makaleng, Matshelagabedi and Matenge villages were being surveyed since last month, adding that the number of plots to be surveyed were 1 357, 2 151 and 2 409 respectively.
The chairperson highlighted that Tati Land Board was experiencing difficulties in acquiring land since all layouts had been done on areas that assessment of properties was not completed.
She appealed to the community and field owners to release them for acquisition to pave way for availing land for residential plots.
Councilor Mpetsane said the survey of base maps in the villages of Sekakangwe, Mapoka, Gambule and Gungwe were on the verge of completion, as the land board was doing final editing to be submitted to council in January 2021.
Furthermore, she highlighted that Matenge, Botalaote and Toteng villages base maps were still at a draft stage as the land board had finished the field work to be submitted to North East District Council in March 2021. ends
