MAA mini show gives SMMEs exposure

Maun Administration Authority on Friday held an annual mini show in Maun to empower and offer support to small and medium micro enterprise in Ngamiland region.
The mini show was held under the theme: Cultural Preservations, Innovation and Creativity, and was specifically meant to support Arts and Crafts entrepreneurs in the categories such as sowing, basketry, woodwork, sculpturing and recycled products.
Speaking during the event Maun Administration Authority senior home economics officer ,Ms Kenamile Seneo Setlhoka said that the objective of the event was to promote and market SMME’S in Ngamiland. Ms Setlhoka explained that the show would give entrepreneurs an opportunity to share ideas, experiences and skills.
According to Ms Setlhoka the show would play part in the diversification of the economy as the entrepreneurs would have an opportunity to penetrate into the market.
She said that they had registered a total of 145 participants from different parts of Ngamiland.
Ms Setlhoka also encouraged entrepreneurs to improve their products’ quality and to consider using technology as one of their marketing tool. One of the entrepreneurs who participated in the event Ms Nomba Makushe of Kushe’s investment, a basketry weaving company applauded Maun Administration Authority for hosting the show, pointing out that it gave her an opportunity to market products and gain exposure.
She said the show also gave them an opportunity to reach out to customers and sell their products.
However, she said due to COVID-19 they did not receive many customers as most of the people who used to buy their products were foreign tourists. ends
