Four heads of state in Gaborone for summit

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi will today host presidents of Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, South Africa and Zimbabwe in his capacity as SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation chairperson.
A press release from the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation says the four are in Gaborone for a SADC Organ Troika extraordinary summit also attended by the Force Intervention Brigade (FIB) troop contributing countries.
Apart from the four heads of state, the summit is also attended by vice presidents of Namibia and Tanzania.
According to the press release, the summit will deliberate on the prevailing security situation in the region, the reconfiguration of FIB and its supporting role in the United Nations peace support operation in the DRC as well as terrorism threats in the region.
The summit was preceded by a senior officials meeting and an extraordinary meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation which started yesterday under the chairmanship of Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation Dr Lemogang Kwape. Ends
